Fausto Ferrara

Austo ferrara is an italian architect and author. His research explores architecture as an inhabitable work, founded on the relationship between human beings, place, light, matter, measure and perception. His works include private houses, contemplative architectures and spatial works in which construction and landscape participate in the same experience of dwelling. The project arises from listening to the place and from the capacity of light, matter, water, threshold and silence to generate space. In his writings, ferrara distinguishes the work from mere construction and returns architecture to its capacity to establish a necessary relationship between human beings and the world. His work has been published and examined in international books, catalogues and magazines. Kenneth frampton has recognised in ferrara’s work an autonomous research founded on listening to place, matter and light, situating it within the tectonic tradition of lewerentz, scarpa, kahn, ando and zumthor; franco purini has emphasised his dimension as an architect-artist and the central role of space, light and perception in his work.
